Public Consultations
Transparency is part of credibility. Before the RL Standard evolves, each revision is reviewed by an invited panel of multidisciplinary experts — hoteliers, auditors, academics and industry partners — who help shape it. Consultations are by invitation, not open to the general public.
Why we consult
A standard shaped by experts.
A credible standard cannot be written behind closed doors. Expert consultation is how the RL Standard stays rigorous, relevant and trusted — tested against the real experience of the people who apply it.
Before any new version or major revision of the RL Standard, the RMP™ methodology or our certification rules is adopted, we open the draft to a defined consultation period. A panel of invited experts — hoteliers, auditors, academics and partners across multiple disciplines — reviews it and submits feedback, which is consolidated before publication. Consultation is by invitation rather than open to the general public, to ensure informed, qualified input.

RL Standard consultations.
The RL Standard was developed in 2021, with its first expert consultation held in March 2022. It now runs an annual expert consultation, by invitation, each January. All consultations to date are now closed — the next window is announced ahead of the following revision.
