Auditor Code of Conduct

Transparency and Trust

The Regenera Luxury Auditor Code of Conduct outlines the ethical principles, professional standards, and behavioural expectations for auditors conducting evaluations on behalf of Regenera Luxury. It also reflects Regenera’s own commitments to ensure a credible, transparent, and consistent auditing process aligned with the values of regenerative hospitality.

This Code applies to all audits carried out under the REGENERA Luxury Certification Programme and is binding for all approved auditors. Should a certified or applicant property believe that an auditor has not adhered to this Code, they are encouraged to report concerns via our formal Complaints and Appeals Procedure or by emailing us at: [email protected]

Foundational Principles

The Code is based on the following principles:

  • Integrity and Impartiality

  • Consistency and Accountability

  • Transparency and Respect

  • Auditor Competency and Continuous Improvement

  • Anti-Corruption and Zero Tolerance for Bribery

  • Cultural and Ecological Sensitivity

  • Professionalism and Evidence-Based Evaluation

Auditor Responsibilities and Conduct

Communication & Professionalism

  • Respond to all audit-related communications promptly, clearly, and professionally.

  • Arrive on-site at the agreed time and notify the auditee immediately if delays occur.

  • Dress in appropriate, clean business-casual attire. Clothing must be non-political, non-branded, and suitable for both safety and respect.

Audit Process & Ethical Behaviour

  • Base all audit findings on objective, verifiable evidence in line with Regenera’s Guidelines for Auditors.

  • Follow both the spirit and the letter of Regenera’s Certification Standards.

  • Apply the same criteria across all audits, regardless of location or type of property.

  • Treat all individuals with dignity, fairness, and cultural respect, particularly when discussing areas of non-compliance.

Honesty, Independence & Objectivity

  • Maintain full independence from auditees and any organization that may have a vested interest in the audit outcome.

  • Never solicit or accept gifts, favours, or incentives that could influence judgment or behavior.

  • Be honest and transparent in audit reports, interview interactions, and communication with Regenera and stakeholders.

  • Remain alert to personal biases and ensure that assessments are grounded in facts, not assumptions.

Professional Demeanor

  • Uphold a consistently high standard of professionalism, even in challenging environments.

  • Avoid lecturing, coaching, or using the audit as a platform for personal or ideological views.

  • Be firm but diplomatic; balance transparency with respect and empathy.

  • Recognize and respect the local context, values, and customs of each audited property.

Avoiding Fatigue & Burnout

  • Be vigilant against repetition fatigue, which may compromise audit quality. Take appropriate breaks or adjust audit procedures if needed.

  • Remain focused and attentive, ensuring each audit receives the level of diligence it deserves.

Supporting Continuous Regeneration

  • While auditors must not guide auditees toward compliance, they are encouraged to highlight opportunities for innovation and emerging best practices aligned with regenerative hospitality.

  • Where appropriate, auditors may reference tools, technologies, or case studies that promote deeper regeneration of ecosystems, communities, and well-being.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

  • Prioritize your own safety, and that of auditees, staff, and guests, above all else.

  • Do not proceed with any audit activity that poses an unreasonable risk.

  • Auditors are encouraged to pause, postpone, or withdraw from audits where health or safety is compromised.

  • Regenera fully supports auditors in these decisions.
