2 years
Certification validity from your audit date
Regenera Luxury certifies hotels and retreats demonstrating leadership in regenerative hospitality principles for a duration of two years. As properties evolve their operational, community-based, environmental and consumer-engagement strategies, maintaining certification keeps your marketing messaging credible and your return on investment compounding.
Certification is a living commitment.
Your certification is valid for two years from your audit date, subject to an annual remote check-up. Current members should follow these steps to re-apply for certification when necessary — maintaining it protects guest expectations, testimonials and return business while keeping your claims verifiable.
In almost all failed recertification cases, auditors report that staff were not prepared and had not used the guides, tools, templates and e-learning provided on the RL website. In practice, fewer than 5% of recertifications fail, because properties prepare appropriately.

01
Review and confirm your property profile on the RL website. You will not be able to have an inspection audit until we can see that you have reviewed this information. Go to your property profile at verify.regenera.luxury.
02
Your recertification fee is due before your certification expires — two years after your audit date. RL will send a reminder and an invoice about six months before your expiry date. You can review the current recertification fees and the services included, such as the inspection audit, the annual check-up audit and access to all the usual tools, resources and benefits (see the SET Services).
03
A third-party auditor will be assigned. You can also request an audit at any time by completing the Audit Request Form, providing two sets of date options. We recommend having your audit at least 30 days before your certification expiry date so that your certification does not lapse. Check your expiry date in your RL account.
04
Refresh your team’s knowledge of the audit questions so each department is ready to support the recertification process. In almost all failed cases, staff were not prepared and had not used the guides, tools, templates and e-learning provided. Access these resources — including an inspection-audit preparation page with checklists and a list of documents your auditor is most likely to want to view.
05
The assigned auditor will contact you to confirm the audit dates and arrival time. They will ask to see various documents, and you must ensure access to all parts of the premises, including some guest rooms. They will also ask to speak with various staff, sometimes interviewing them in private. At the end there is a closing meeting with general feedback; official results are sent directly from RL and posted on your RL webpage.
06
After each audit, auditors submit a written report to RL detailing their findings against each requirement and recommending compliance or non-compliance. Specially trained RL staff review the report and make the final decision. The entire process can take up to 30 days to complete. Once ready, you are notified by email and can view the report on the RL website.
07
When a property achieves RL Certification it receives a certificate and logo it can display. It is also included in the reports we provide to travel companies, who use this information to identify which properties in their portfolio hold a certification. Certification is valid for two years from the audit date, subject to the annual check-up.
08
Maintaining your certification standards is critical for guest expectations, testimonials and return business. RL conducts an annual overview of the criteria to observe compliance and enhancement where necessary. In most cases, the same auditor who carried out the inspection audit is assigned to the remote audit — a simple process of uploading information such as documents and completing forms. If you fail the check-up audit, your certification is withdrawn and you must begin the recertification process again.
01
The property has complied with all the recertification requirements and is certified for another two years, subject to the annual certification check-up audit.
02
The property did not comply with all requirements, but on satisfactory completion of a few improvements on the audit findings, certification can be completed. All improvements must be finished within six months of the inspection audit date; otherwise the property will not achieve certification and must arrange another inspection audit at additional cost.
03
The property has a substantial range of areas where it did not comply with RL certification requirements. The audit report with recommendations is available on the property’s RL webpage. To continue, another audit must be scheduled at additional cost. This is very rare — fewer than 5% of recertifications fail.
